‘If we cannot save penguins—cannot save what everybody loves, what can we save?’
This is the question at the heart of my talk about penguins—as it is at the heart of my book, just published by Sasquatch Press. After a life-changing encounter with a king penguin on South Georgia Island, my wife, Susan, and I committed to see all 18 species of the world’s penguins in the wild. We developed a passion for them that took us to some of the most remote and wildly beautiful places on the planet. In a talk that is fact-friendly, story-driven, and full of photos, I share what we learned about penguins and how they changed us. Part adventure, part natural history, and part spiritual quest, the talk (and book) are a celebration of the charm and resilience of penguins, as well as a call to action.
